Visiting international students are those who come to Hacettepe University for a semester or an academic year of study through bilateral agreements with universities abroad, or students from Hacettepe University who go to these partner universities. The processes for accepting visiting students, from their initial acceptance to their return to their home institutions, are coordinated by the Office of External Relations in collaboration with internal stakeholders. Hacettepe University considers student exchanges under bilateral protocols as an essential step in developing a common understanding between institutions and values their contribution to the university’s internationalization efforts.
Prospective visiting international students apply through the external/international relations office at their home university. The relevant unit forwards the students' applications to the Office of External Relations at Hacettepe University within the application periods determined and announced by the Office of External Relations each semester. The Office of External Relations then submits valid applications to the relevant academic unit. If the academic unit's board of directors makes a positive decision, the Office of External Relations sends an acceptance letter.
Accommodation for visiting students in student dormitories or residence halls can be reserved by the Office of External Relations. The integration of visiting international students into the university system and the completion of necessary legal procedures are coordinated in collaboration with the Student Affairs Office.
As an international courtesy, both the sending and the hosting university do not charge education fees to visitor students. However, visiting students are responsible for their own travel, accommodation, and living expenses.
